Work And Study
Students from Non-EU countries (Third Country Nationals – TCN) can now apply for an employment license and work whilst studying English in Malta!
Third Country Nationals (TCN) students who are studying in Malta for longer than 90 days can apply for an employment licence allowing them to work in Malta.
Conditions
■ Students cannot work in their first 90 days in Malta whilst attending a course
■ They may only apply for an employment licence* after they have obtained a study visa for the period beyond the first 90 day study visa
■ Students need a job offer and to complete the application form together with their employer
■ They must continue to attend their classes – minimum of 15 hours a week
■ Students can only work a maximum of 20 hours per week
■ They cannot stop studying and only work using their employment licence
■ If changing jobs/employer students will need to apply for a new licence* with their new employer
Steps to apply
To study in Malta for longer than 90 days students must extend their visa once in Malta. Visa waiver students should apply for a visa before the end of their visa free 90 days.
1. Students must apply for their study visa first and wait for it to be approved before applying for an employment license*.
2. Find a job in Malta
3. Receive a formal job offer from employer
4. Submit employment application to Jobsplus (the employer will need to complete a form as part of the application with details of the job offer)
5. Pay application fee – €230**
The employment licence takes approximately 4 – 6 weeks to be granted, after which the student can begin working providing they have been studying in Malta for a minimum of 90 days.
Obtaining student visa extension
Students can apply for their visa extension after 21 days in Malta. Students should apply at the Central Visa Unit in Floriana.

HOW SOON CAN I START WORKING?
You can only work after 90 days in Malta on your study visa and only with a valid extended study visa and employment licence.

CAN I MISS CLASSES DUE TO WORK?
No, you are required to attend your classes regardless of any employment you may have. If a student’s attendance is less than 75% the school is required to inform immigration which may result in the student’s study visa being withdrawn. This will also make the employment licence invalid.

Yes, if the student’s employer is willing to continue to employ them then the licence can be extended*. Students must have a valid study visa and continue to attend their classes.

Our courses are designed for teachers who would like to refresh their English knowledge and skills. It provides a professional environment to discuss different strategies, techniques and methodologies which can be adapted to suit the needs of different students.

IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
IELTS is administered jointly by The British Council, IDP Education Australia and the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate. It is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work wherever English is used as the language of communication. It covers all four language skills at nine levels from non-user to expert user. IELTS scores are widely accepted by educational institutions, can be used as entry to training courses and are recognised by other services and businesses such as immigration and recruitment. This course can be taken as General English or Intensive English. Intermediate level of English is requested to join this exam preparation course.

--AM Language offers courses in the English language at 6 levels; Beginner (A1), Elementary (A1 - A2), Pre-intermediate (A2 - B1), Intermediate (B1), Upper-intermediate (B2) and Advanced
(C1).
--Bookings should be made well in advance. Prices are per person per week unless otherwise indicated. Courses start every Monday. Sessions are of 45 minutes duration. All courses
include use of audio and other teaching aids. Certificates of attendance are issued at the end of the course.
--Placement test is to be completed and sent to school prior to arrival. Failure to return the test will mean completing the test on your first day at school resulting in the possible loss of
your first 4 lessons at your own expense. No refund will be offered by AM Language.
--All beginners must verify course dates for availability as soon as your level is known.

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY OF THE SCHOOL
In the event that you cancel your booking prior to arrival, the following charges will apply:
-- More than 28 days’ notice: 25% of your total cost as a cancellation fee.
-- 28 to 13 days notice: 50% of your total cost as a cancellation fee.
-- Less than 13 days notice: the full price will be charged.
-- No refunds are given after commencement of the respective English course, accommodation or any other service. No changes will be allowed to make up for refunds in the case of any cancellations.
-- In case of a student visa refusal, AM Language will charge 120.00 Euro cancellation fee. This will cover registration, placement and other administration charges. In case of cancellation due to Visas
refusal for less than 7 days notice, the normal cancellation policy above applies. It is important to note that visa extensions are only granted subject to good performance, satisfactory attendance
85% and have fulfilled all the requirements of the Central Visa Unit in Malta. If an applicant regularly fails to show up for lessons or have failed to present all documents as requested he would lose his
student visa eligibility, which will result in VISA refusal. For such applicants normal cancellation policy will be applied.
-- Any changes to confirmed bookings will be considered as cancellations, therefore cancellation policies will apply. Where possible AM Language will try to be flexible subject to availability and any
such changes will incur a cost of 50.00 Euro administration expenses.
-- Postponement of any bookings is subject to reconfirmation based on availability.

Electricity and water meter readings will be taken every week and charges will be divided between the number of students sharing the apartment.A Security deposit around 150 Euro is collected in cash on the first day.
