Work And Study

Students from Non-EU countries (Third Country Nationals – TCN) can now apply for an employment license and work whilst studying English in Malta!

Third Country Nationals (TCN) students who are studying in Malta for longer than 90 days can apply for an employment licence allowing them to work in Malta.

Conditions

■ Students cannot work in their first 90 days in Malta whilst attending a course
■ They may only apply for an employment licence* after they have obtained a study visa for the period beyond the first 90 day study visa
■ Students need a job offer and to complete the application form together with their employer
■ They must continue to attend their classes – minimum of 15 hours a week
■ Students can only work a maximum of 20 hours per week
■ They cannot stop studying and only work using their employment licence
■ If changing jobs/employer students will need to apply for a new licence* with their new employer

Steps to apply

To study in Malta for longer than 90 days students must extend their visa once in Malta. Visa waiver students should apply for a visa before the end of their visa free 90 days.
1. Students must apply for their study visa first and wait for it to be approved before applying for an employment license*.
2. Find a job in Malta
3. Receive a formal job offer from employer
4. Submit employment application to Jobsplus (the employer will need to complete a form as part of the application with details of the job offer)
5. Pay application fee – €230**

The employment licence takes approximately 4 – 6 weeks to be granted, after which the student can begin working providing they have been studying in Malta for a minimum of 90 days.

Obtaining student visa extension

Students can apply for their visa extension after 21 days in Malta. Students should apply at the Central Visa Unit in Floriana.

WHO IS CONSIDERED A TCN?
Third country Nationals (TCN) refers to anyone that comes from outside of the EU/EEA or who are not Swiss Nationals.
EDU-SEARCH can advise you regarding helpful websites such as the government Jobsplus website vacancies but students will be responsible for finding their own employment.
Yes, you will need a formal job offer before you can apply as your employer will need to fill in a form as part of your application, stating the job offer and details of the position.
The employment license fee is currently €230. For up-to-date information students should check with Jobsplus: www.jobsplus.gov.mt
You can only work after 90 days in Malta on your study visa and only with a valid extended study visa and employment licence.
You can only work for a maximum of 20 hours per week and you must continue studying for a minimum of 15 hours per week.
No, you are required to attend your classes regardless of any employment you may have. If a student’s attendance is less than 75% the school is required to inform immigration which may result in the student’s study visa being withdrawn. This will also make the employment licence invalid.
Yes, if the student’s employer is willing to continue to employ them then the licence can be extended*. Students must have a valid study visa and continue to attend their classes.

Our General English programme is designed to facilitate langauge acquisition and it's practical application in students' daily routine. Our curriculum encourages the gradual improvement of language skills. While priority is given to oral proficiency to improve fluency, our course covers comprehensive aspects including English usage, reading, listening, writing and speaking.
Delivered over five days a week, from Monday to Friday, the course comprises a total of 20 lessons per week. Each lesson is thoughtfully designed to span 45 minutes, collectively totalling three hours of engaging instruction per day.

IELTS Exam Preparation Course 30
The IELTS course at inlingua Malta has been running at a very good success rate for the past 15 years. Under the care and tuition of experienced trainers, students who want to improve their English to advance in their career or enroll for a undergraduate or post-graduate course at an English speaking university, will benefit from preparing for the IELTS Exam. We also offer IELTS course in Malaysia for students there who want to study or work where English is used as a language of communication.
Our intensive IELTS Exam course, has students preparing for the exams 6 lessons a day. Unlike other courses, all the 6 lessons are spent preparing for the exam. Lessons combine both General and Academic English language skills and also exam techniques and tips.

General English Long Stay

Airport Transfer: inlingua Malta offers its students an airport transfer service. Our driver will meet you at the airport to take you to your chosen accommodation in Malta. The transfer service will also pick you up upon departure to take you to the airport. One person €50, 2 persons €25, 3 persons €20, 4 persons €17.

Local Tax : For International Students it is applied Eco-Tax 5 Euro for each stay by Maltese Government.

inlingua Malta will issue a Confirmation letter, a ProForma invoice and a Letter of Acceptance for Visa application upon full payment. There is a charge of €45 for Visa assistance. Any additional cost incurred should documents be sent by courier are to be borne by the student.

In the event that you cancel your booking the following refunds will apply:

Upon quote, Host Family Accommodation will only be made available for the first 48 hours following a request.
In cases of illness or holidays planned through the duration of the course, the head of school needs to be informed. Lessons missed for this reason will not be replaced or refunded.

Postponements
Course postponements less than 30 days before start of course will be made at a charge of €100.
Accommodation postponement are charged a fee according to the supplier in question.

Double Banking
inlingua Malta reserves the right to adapt a double-banking system whereby students may have a varied time-table in which lessons are delivered either in the morning or in the afternoon.

Visas
Students travelling on a VISA must plan ahead and check with their local Maltese representation with regard to timings for VISA application.
inlingua Malta will issue a Confirmation letter, a ProForma invoice and a Letter of Acceptance for Visa application upon full payment.
There is a charge of €35 for Visa assistance.
Any additional cost incurred should documents be sent by courier are to be borne by the student Cancellations after VISA refusal:
Any cancellations due to VISA refusals must be made in writing and communicated to info@inlinguamalta.com within three (3) days of receipt of the refusal document sent by the issuing Embassy/Authority.
In the event of a refusal the following cancellation charges apply:
7 days prior to arrival - 3 days host family/ Residence accommodation / full stay hotel accommodation +*non-refundable charges
Less than 7 days prior to arrival - 1 week tuition + 1 week host family/Residence accommodation/ full stay hotel accommodation + *non-refundable charges*
(*Non-Refundable Charges include registration/ Visa Assistance/Courier/Admin fees).
Cancellations or shortening of courses after Visa has been issued No refunds are granted to students failing to arrive or who are absent during their course. For all other reasons, cancellations must be made in writing and the following cancellations charges apply:

For no-shows, or cancellation or shortening of courses after arrival date – no refund will be given.

Postponement of courses
In the event that, between 14-21 days prior to course start date the entry visa application approval is still pending students can opt to postpone their course to a later starting date within the current year against a fee of €145. On confirmation of Visa approval, cancellation policies above apply. In case of visa not being granted after full and correct application, students may opt to file an appeal with the appeals court

Host Families Accommodation:
Staying with an English speaking family is an excellent way of maximizing your educational experience. Every family have their own way of life, so living in a family environment can be fun, it gives you the opportunity to practise your English and it will provide you with a cultural experience that you will remember for the rest of your life!
Shared Self-Catering Flats/Apartments:
A flat/apartment is your best option for cost effective, independent accommodation while learning English around your Course location. You have the privacy of your own space and the opportunity to cook your own meals while enjoying the company of other students from different countries. Usually the apartments are centrally located and close to local amenities like cafés, bars, restaurants, shops and buses and all are within walking distance of Course (maximum distance 15 minutes on foot) unless specified otherwise. Electricity and water meter readings will be taken every week and charges will be divided between the number of students sharing the apartment.A Security deposit around 150 Euro is collected in cash on the first day. Water and electricity is not included in the rates quoted.
Hostels (2 Students) Accommodation:
Hostels provide a budget oriented, sociable option where students can book a bed, usually a bunk bed, in a dormitory and share a bathroom, lounge and sometimes a kitchen. Rooms can accommodate mixed or single sex, and private rooms may also be available.Shared rooms in the Hostel can be set up as twins.

All our 3 star hotels are in walking distance from the school and the main shopping area of Sliema. The bus terminus is only 5 minutes away and serves routes to Valletta and St Julian’s, some of Malta’s historic sites and a selection of sandy beaches.
