History of St Giles
St Giles International was founded in 1955 by Paul Lindsay and his wife Diana. Paul trained to be a teacher and started his career teaching English and French to native English speakers at a north London polytechnic.

Since then, St Giles has grown into an international organisation with 6 year-round centres in the UK and Canada, as well as Junior Summer Courses in the UK.

Every year around 10,000 students from over 100 different countries choose St Giles for their language and learning needs. Established in 1955, we offer 67 years' experience in providing excellence in training for people of all ages, all needs, and from all over the world.

Basic Beginner
St Giles London Central offers the Basic Beginner Course on regular set start dates throughout the year. Students can choose to take 20 (morning) or 20-morning lessons + 5 private lessons for 2 to 4 weeks. Our Basic Beginner Course is carefully designed to deliver essential language skills in a supportive learning environment with a maximum of 8 students per class.
This group course is designed for beginner students learning English for the first time.
After the course, students can progress onto a longer General English or International Semester Course at A1 (elementary) level.
You can also choose to increase your progress during your stay by taking 5 or more additional One-to-one lessons per week.

CELTA Course (Teacher training)
St Giles London Central offers a full-time course leading to the Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). This is a 4-week programme of intensive study which includes observation of experienced teachers, coursework assignments and 6 hours of teaching practice.
The full-time CELTA course runs from Monday to Friday, 9.15-17.30 with a one-hour lunch break and morning and afternoon coffee breaks. Self-study in the evenings and at weekends is required.

4. Waiting time: An additional fee of £67 is payable if no contact is made with the driver within 120 minutes of landing.

NB. Students aged 16 or 17: You are strongly advised to book our airport transfer service in order to avoid problems with immigration procedures (unless you are being met by an adult friend or relative). You must also carry your Parental Consent Form.

Any Local Tax for short-term stays is not applied.

Courier (express Mail) Fee for Original Documents: Visa Document Courier Fee on request.

For some countries visa applications, full payment is required in advance before acceptance letters are issued.

• Courses start every Monday. • Each lesson consists of 50 minutes. • An intermediate level of English or higher is required to join the Professional English courses. Students wishing to join an Exam Preparation course must have an appropriate level of English relevant to the exam they wish to take. • All fees are in £.

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY OF THE SCHOOL

CANCELLATION BEFORE SCHEDULED ARRIVAL DATE
All cancellations must be received in writing. Cancellation charges are as follows at each location. Any balance is refunded:

1. More than 21 days before scheduled arrival date:

2. Less than 21 days before the scheduled arrival date (including students who fail to arrive without notice):

- Students at all locations may also incur charges to third-party accommodation providers (residences, hotels and homestays). St Giles will pass on any direct costs incurred.

- Insurance Charges (UK).

VISA REFUSALS: If your visa is refused, and you fail to inform us before the course begins, our standard cancellation terms apply as listed above. But if we receive your refusal letter before the course begins, we aim where possible to pass on only direct costs incurred by our centres, and refunds and charges are as follows: Tuition Fees: these will be refunded in full, together with the Course Deposit. Accommodation charges: these will be charged (if applicable) as stated overleaf under Accommodation, Cancellation or Changes, and the balance will be refunded. Non-refundable charges: these payments (if applicable) will be retained: Registration Fee, Accommodation Placement Fee, Accommodation Deposit, Airport Transfer charges, Guardianship Fee, Express Mail Fee. Other charges may apply.
Some important issues:
1. Cancellations or shortening of courses after Visa has been issued No refunds are granted to students failing to arrive or who are absent during their course.
2. Periods of absence are not compensated with free extensions at the end of the course.
3. In the case of students being granted a visa, non-arrivals, late arrivals and periods of absence will be reported to the immigration authorities.

Host Families Accommodation:
Staying with an English speaking family is an excellent way of maximizing your educational experience. Every family have their own way of life, so living in a family environment can be fun, it gives you the opportunity to practise your English and it will provide you with a cultural experience that you will remember for the rest of your life!
Shared Self-Catering Flats/Apartments Accommodation:
A flat/apartment is your best option for cost effective, independent accommodation while learning English around your Course location. You have the privacy of your own space and the opportunity to cook your own meals while enjoying the company of other students from different countries. Usually the apartments are centrally located and close to local amenities like cafés, bars, restaurants, shops and buses and all are within walking distance of Course (maximum distance 15-20 minutes on foot) unless specified otherwise. Electricity and water meter readings will be taken every week and charges will be divided between the number of students sharing the apartment.
Hostels (1-2 Students) Accommodation:
Hostels provide a budget oriented, sociable option where students can book a bed, usually a bunk bed, in a dormitory and share a bathroom, lounge and sometimes a kitchen. Rooms can accommodate mixed or single sex, and private rooms may also be available.Shared rooms in the Hostel can be set up as twins. A Security deposit around £150-200 is collected in cash on the first day. Water and electricity is not included in the rates quoted.

Staying in a 4 star hotel offers students an upmarket alternative.
