Certificate of Higher Education
The Certificate of Higher Education (Cert HE) is a one-year course designed for students who do not quite meet the entry criteria to go directly into year 2 of an undergraduate degree. It is equivalent to 120 credits at Level 4, which is the same as the first level of a Bachelor's degree.
The course helps students to gain confidence and skills in the specific subject area and can be used as the first step of several degree levels or career progression.
The Cert HE course is currently available in business and management. Upon completion of a Cert HE course, students will be prepared for success in their BA/BSc university degree course.

NOTES

• Courses start every Monday. • Each lesson consists of 45 minutes. • An intermediate level of English or higher is required to join the Professional English courses. Students wishing to join an Exam Preparation course must have an appropriate level of English relevant to the exam they wish to take. • All fees are in £.

The Language Gallery is closed on public holidays and inset dates, and there are no classes on these days. If the first Monday of your course is a public holiday, your course will start on Tuesday. The Language Gallery does not give refunds or discounts when it is closed on public holidays, and you cannot make up these days on another day.

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY OF THE SCHOOL

3.1 The Language Gallery cannot give you a refund in a case of a change of mind after you start your course. You cannot, for example, reduce the number of hours you study per week and convert these into one-to-one classes. You cannot reduce the number of hours to study per day in order to lengthen the duration of your course.
3.2 All refund applications must be made at least two weeks before the course start date via the online at Refunds Portal
3.3 If you cancel your course in writing via the Admissions Team, in cases other than the visa refusal (See 4 Visa Refusals), The Language Gallery will:
3.3.1 within the cooling off period (see clause 6) – full refund minus £70
3.3.2 outside the cooling off period but before the start of the course- full refund minus £260
3.3.3 Any other cancellation made any time prior to 2 weeks of the start of the course full refund minus £70
3.3.4 any other cancellation made between the course start date and 2 weeks prior to it- full refund minus £260. The Admissions team will then send you a link to the Refunds Portal.
3.4 Any refunds can only be made to the original payer (the person who made the payment to The Language Gallery) using the original method of payment (e.g., bank transfer, credit card). If you paid by card, you must give us the same card number for a refund to be processed.
Some important issues:
1. Cancellations or shortening of courses after Visa has been issued No refunds are granted to students failing to arrive or who are absent during their course.
2. Periods of absence are not compensated with free extensions at the end of the course.
3. In the case of students being granted a visa, non-arrivals, late arrivals and periods of absence will be reported to the immigration authorities.

Host Families Accommodation:
Staying with an English speaking family is an excellent way of maximizing your educational experience. Every family have their own way of life, so living in a family environment can be fun, it gives you the opportunity to practise your English and it will provide you with a cultural experience that you will remember for the rest of your life!
Shared Self-Catering Flats/Apartments Accommodation:
A flat/apartment is your best option for cost effective, independent accommodation while learning English around your Course location. You have the privacy of your own space and the opportunity to cook your own meals while enjoying the company of other students from different countries. Usually the apartments are centrally located and close to local amenities like cafés, bars, restaurants, shops and buses and all are within walking distance of Course (maximum distance 15-20 minutes on foot) unless specified otherwise. Electricity and water meter readings will be taken every week and charges will be divided between the number of students sharing the apartment.
Hostels (1-2 Students) Accommodation:
Hostels provide a budget oriented, sociable option where students can book a bed, usually a bunk bed, in a dormitory and share a bathroom, lounge and sometimes a kitchen. Rooms can accommodate mixed or single sex, and private rooms may also be available.Shared rooms in the Hostel can be set up as twins. A Security deposit around £150-200 is collected in cash on the first day. Water and electricity is not included in the rates quoted.
