Overview

International House London

Our founders John Haycraft (CBE) and his wife Brita Haycraft started a school because they believed in international communication and building communities across cultures. Our founders pioneered the very first teacher training qualification (in 1962), now known as the CELTA and assessed by the University of Cambridge. IH London still believes in inspiring people to be the best they can be.

Today our adult school is in the beautiful Covent Garden, central London. Everything London has to offer can be reached from our front door. Our modern air conditioned school has nine floors with a large library, café, computer centre, comfortable social spaces, reception, and 53 fully equipped large bright classrooms. We also have Young Learner Centres across the UK.

IH London teaches across the full learning journey: Learn English (for ages 16+), Young Learners (ages 8-17), The Executive Centre (for professionals aged 21+), Teacher Training, Foreign Languages, Evening Courses, and we are an Exam Centre.
IH London predated and is part of the IH network, which is the largest network of independent schools in the world: over 150 schools, in over 50 countries.

Top reasons to study with IH London
Improving your English or learning another lang-
uage is a huge step towards achieving your career and life goals. We will be with you every step of the way.

Here are a few reasons to trust us with your ambitions.
We had been ranked best value school in London in 2019, reported in industry publication the EL Gazette. International House London is a charitable trust and we reinvest profits to improve your learning experience.

Our teachers are all CELTA-qualified; many are Delta-qualified. Both teaching qualifications represent excellence in English teaching and are assessed by the University of Cambridge. Teaching for over 65 years, International House London predates the now global brand International House World. We are now part of a global network of 160 independent schools.

We have pioneering partnerships. We are the only school to offer the Distance Delta in partnership with the British Council for advanced teachers. We were the first school in London to offer face-to-face OET preparation courses for medical English. We are one of the largest IELTS test centres in Europe and an accredited centre for Cambridge exams, BULATS for business English and OET for medical English. Other schools send their students to us to sit their exams.
